ADULT Bottled Goodbyes: Messages from Shipwreck and Aviation Disasters
Bottled messages have been discovered onshore nearly as long as glass containers have been invented. They bring tidings from ocean voyagers, invitations for pen-pals, tragic attempts for rescue, and floating farewells from long-lost souls. Ric Mixter’s presentation, based on his new book Bottled Goodbyes, chronicles the most famous messages ever recovered from around the world and back to the Great Lakes. Bottled Goodbyes covers interesting recoveries from the Titanic, The Plymouth, and Lightship 82, both lost in The Great Storm of 1913, and the Christmas Tree Ships that sailed the Great Lakes in the 1800s.
