Come hang out at the ‘brary after school. We’ll feed you and provide a different fun activity (crafts, games, movies, etc.) every week. This group is limited to 12 participants. You must be in grades 6-9 to participate.
 
 
 
Teen Writer's Group
3rd Mon. of the month (7/19, 8/23 (one week later), & 9/20) @ 7 p.m.
 
 Teen writer's group is designed to let you share your work in a supportive environment. You can give and receive constructive advice about your writing while talking to others who share your interests. We will meet once a month for an hour and a half, and snacks will be provided. Bring a piece you are working on to each meeting. New members are always welcome!!!

This group is designed to help you complete your community service hours while helping the library earn some extra funds! (We usually have a small project at each meeting that earns you community service credit as well!) New faces are always welcome. There will also be lots of volunteer opportunities this summer. Stop by any meeting and find out what's happening!

Make a miniature sand castle with sculptor Charles Wakefield June 23.

We'll go as a group to see Eclipse June 30.

Are you a writer? Take a poetry writing workshop with poet John Rybicki starting July 1, or sign up to talk with author Mark Crilley, who will visit July 6 . 

Enjoy getting wet and silly at our water balloon launch July 2.

Make a flip-flop tee shirt July 9. srp surfboard

Challenge a friend to a Battleship competition July 12.

Try making a Sculpey fish and a Shrinky Dink July 26.

Bring in dominoes and work together to make a huge domino wave sculpture, then we'll film it falling at the end of the evening and post it on youtube August 2.

Join us at the Plainwell Middle School Pool on August 5 for a pool party!

Interpersonal Relations: Aug. 19  
In elementary school there are about 75 kids in your grade. In middle school, that jumps to 225! How do you make new friends? How can you tell who to trust? What do you do about members of the opposite sex who are all of a sudden interested in you (and you’re interested in them!)? Our panel of middle school and high school students will share their experiences and talk about how you can make friendships flourish in this strange new world.
 

I Have How Many Classes?! Staying Organized From 1st Hour Until June: Aug. 26   

There are many methods for staying organized, and each person needs to find his/her own. However, a California guidance counselor has developed a simple method that may be just right for you. Learn what it is and how it works in this session.  
 
 

Facebook Perks and Pitfalls: Sept. 2  

Find out when you can legitimately get a Facebook account, how to check your settings, and why it can be a great tool and a vicious enemy.  This will be informative for parents, too!

Sign up for our swap meet today! You can register with us by phone or in person; all we need to know is your name, which game system(s) you use, and how many games you will bring to trade. At the event we will match you up with other people who use the same system and you can make your trades. If this program is well-attended we will make it a regular event!

The Michigan Electronic Library Catalog (MelCat) is a wonderful tool, allowing home school families to access materials from all over the state. Sign up to learn more about how to use this valuable resource to your advantage. Basic knowledge of internet navigation is helpful. Limit 8 participants (on the 8 library computers.)
